Aamodt's Apple Farm

One of the greatest things about Minnesota in the fall is the abundance of apples. If you have yet to visit an orchard this year and pick your own, I suggest you make plans to do so, and soon—these cold weather mornings signal the end of fall, and the peak season ends this month. We’ve suggested Afton Apple Orchard in Hastings, Deardorff Orchards in Waconia, Pine Tree Apple Orchard in White Bear Lake, Apple Jack Orchards in Delano, and now, another great option: Aamodt’s Apple Farm in Stillwater.

The 66-year-old family-owned orchard offers everything for a fall day of family fun: Wagon rides and a tractor-pulled kiddie train, John Deere kiddie trike and tractor farm, hay bale maze and hay mountain, goat farm, goodies like apple brats, apple pies and cider, and of course, the main attraction, pick your own apples. They keep the website up-to-date with what’s ripe and ready for picking, but this time of the year it’s likely to include either Honeycrisp, Jonathan, Fireside, Connell Red Fireside, Haralson, Regent or Keepsake apples. Before you go, you might consider checking out our guide to picking the perfect apple. And if the adults want to venture off, Saint Croix Vineyards is located on the property.

Plus, selecting this as your orchard of choice means you get to go to Stillwater, named by Travel + Leisure as one of America’s Best Towns for Fall Colors.
