The Republicans are coming! And Il Vostro Boutique is opening! On Monday, Stacey Finnegan opens a second location of her boho-chic women's clothing store in downtown St. Paul. Yes, it's an ideal location for the convention. But after the motorcades leave and the hotels empty—Il Vostro will remain, the only women's boutique downtown. It's a bold move, despite the success of Il Vostro's Edina locations, but one that hopefully encourages other independent retailers to do the same. As we've seen from shopping destinations like Grand Avenue and 50th and France, more is always merrier. Apparently the city of St. Paul agrees: Mayor Chris Coleman is greeting shoppers at a private champagne reception next week.
