Maiden Voyage

Remember Lilith Fair? Fierce female musicians like Sarah McLachlan and the Indigo Girls teamed up for an annual all-women's outdoor concert? They rocked in so many ways. Their energy and music were unmatched - still are - and it got me through my angst-ridden teenage years.

Anyway, we're taking a trip down memory lane because I have the same giddy anticipation about Maiden Minnesota, a celebration of Minnesota-based, creatively-driven, women-owned companies. And there are SO many great ones, including a few of my favorites: Elin and Clara, Live Savvy, russel+hazel, and Urban Junket. Meet the girls, shop their products (some exclusively on sale for the event), and check out the silent auction, whose proceeds will, fittingly, benefit WomenVenture.

I love the concept of raising awareness about what women can do, and are doing, in the Twin Cities. I'm so fortunate to team up with these entrepreneurs in my own work, and I hope to see this community also get inspired by their creativity and contributions to the local retail landscape.
