Design Call

Calling all aspiring fashion designers!

The DIVA MN committee is searching for designers for its annual fashion show. This charity event, which benefits HIV/AIDS awareness in Minnesota, is one of the most established and well--ttended runway events in the Twin Cities. Last year, however, some critics were unimpressed with the fashions. I would personally love to see a show that's both entertaining and approachable. There's a not-so-fine-line between art and fashion, and the majority of us want to want to wear the clothes we see going down the runway.

Anyway, 15 designers will be chosen to reveal their collections at the show on March 8, 2008. They'll have five months to create four to eight pieces that reflect the "Club DIVA" theme, commemorating nightclubs from hot spots like New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Las Vegas, and Minneapolis (this is news to me).

Bring a sample of your work or photos to the designer presentation call this Thursday, October 4, to International Market Square. Here are the details:

When: Thursday, October 4
Time: 3:00-7:00
Place: International Market Square
275 Market Street B, Room 524
Minneapolis

And on that note I am now officially giddy for Project Runway Season 4 which, BTW, premieres November 14, months ahead of rumored schedule. Make it work.
