Dreaming of Change

WHAT: The Dream Mile Twin Cities 5K Run/Walk
WHERE: State Capitol Grounds, St. Paul
WHEN: 8:30 a.m.
Get in a workout and help others (all before 10 a.m.!) at the Dream Mile Run, which raises awareness and money for underprivileged children in India. This year, the proceeds will go to Door Step School, which brings education to disadvantaged children in urban areas. Mudslingers

WHAT: Muddy Sunday Volleyball Tournament
WHERE: Washington County Fairgrounds, Stillwater
WHEN: 8:30 a.m.
Want to have some summer fun while getting a little dirty? Head out to Stillwater this weekend with a crew of your friends for a not-so-serene mud bath as you battle other teams on mud-filled volleyball courts. Inspired by the Columbian event Ciclovía, Open Streets is all about wandering: shutting down a major street each month for city-dwellers to take to the streets to enjoy activities, events, and refreshments. This month’s conquest is Minnehaha Avenue, between E. Lake Street and Godfrey Parkway. Bring your kids, pets, bikes, or walking shoes, and take joy in the open space.
