Summer in the Cities = Music in the Parks

Summer in the Cities = Music in the Parks

The Twin Cities are full of iconic landmarks: the Spoonbridge and Cherry sculpture, the Foshay Tower, the Guthrie Theater. But none define “summer” quite so much as the Lake Harriet Bandshell. The structure itself has seen many iterations since its first debut as a lakeside pavilion in 1888, but the soul and inspiration behind it has remained unchanged: filling the sweet summertime air with equally sweet music.

Theater Latté Da continues this timeless and treasured tradition on Wednesday, June 27, as part of their 15th-anniversary celebrations. The company is best known for its diverse, boundaries-pushing repertoire (Spring Awakening, Beautiful Thing) as well as bringing together some of the most talented performers in the Twin Cities.

The Lake Harriet cabaret will feature Sasha Andreev, Jody Briskey, Ivory Doublette, Jessica Fredrickson, and Tyler Michaels singing crowd-favorite Broadway tunes, to the accompaniment of Latté Da’s resident music director Denise Prosek’s piano playing.

If you can’t make it this week, no worries: the same troupe will be doing a second showing Monday, July 30, at the Plymouth Park Hilde Small Stage.
