Ever wonder about how to find love in the digital age? Or how to make your marriage last a lifetime? If anyone can shed light on the mystery (and logistics) of contemporary love, it’s Daniel Jones. The editor of the weekly New York Times Modern Love column has spent the last decade reading tens of thousands of essays on the topic sent in by readers worldwide, and turned what he has learned into the touching, funny, insightful and utterly modern book Love Illuminated. The New York-based author (dubbed the male Carrie Bradshaw) will be in Minneapolis on May 20 to do a reading from Love Illuminated at the Loft Literary Center—along with three local writers whose work appeared in Modern Love: Elizabeth Foy Larsen, Julie Schumacher and Minnesota Monthly Style Editor Karen S. Schneider. Jones will lead a talk after his reading, so bring your questions (and prepare to bare your soul.) Even better, mix and mingle with him along with the local Modern Love writers and other enthusiasts at a pre-reading reception, complete with hors d'oeuvres and a hosted bar. loftmodernlove.eventbrite.com
