Question: What do you get when Faribault Woolen Mills and Pierrepont Hicks have a baby?
Answer: Probably the world's most stylish blanket. This is one of my favorite designer collaborations in a long time, and it thrills me to the core that the product comes from two local companies. (Designed here! Made here! People get paid here!)
What's remarkable in this particular combination is that you can plainly see the influence each designer had on the final product. I love Pierrepont Hicks's influence in putting a modern spin on the classic Faribault Woolen Mills Revival Stripe blanket. Sort of a Hamptons-meets-the-stadium feel. Like a sun flare on an indie-rock record cover. Blue and orange—one of my favorite color combos! The instinct with blankets and "whites" like sheets would be to create them in snoozy, cozy colors, but what I love about this is that you'd be enveloping yourself in sunshine-y heat instead of the usual, albeit comforting, gray-day type of warmth.
One of these will have to make its way into my home and to a picnic or two, I think. ($150. Get it here.)
