Elizabeth’s Pick: Johnston’s Honey Helping Hand Cream

By now you are undoubtedly familiar with Johnston Honey, the golden nectar handcrafted by Mayo Clinic cardiologists Sharon Mulvagh and Donald Johnston, and their brood in Rochester. I can still remember the first time I tasted one of their delicate, floral honeys a decade ago at a local farmer’s market. It was a revelation—and a far cry from what my Honey Bear had been putting out. What I did not realize until recently is that after the honey is harvested, the Johnston children collect the beeswax from their flower gardens and whip it into the most deliciously rich, gently honey-scented Helping Hand Cream. This is brilliant on so many levels. Namely: Nothing that bees create is going to waste, and the Johnstons are harnessing the natural powers of honey—an age-old skin curative and soother. I know people who use honey to clear up a blemish, as a moisturizing facial mask, or as the base of homemade body scrubs. For the moment, I’m pretty partial to what it’s doing for my hands.

Available online and in stores at Bibelot Shops.
