Elizabeth’s Pick: World's Best BLT

I am not exaggerating. No, I haven’t eaten your BLT, or your mother’s BLT. Nor have I tasted every BLT known to man. But I can say with utter certainty that the Crooked Spoon Café’s BLT is the best BLT there is, was, and will ever be. Vitals include crisp lettuce, farm-fresh beefsteak tomatoes (not the mealy, sorry excuses that most restaurants use); thick-cut, peppery bacon drizzled with honey; a creamy, dreamy curry mayo; and toasted slices of earthy rye bread. It’s hot and cold, savory and sweet, rich and light. It’s the perfect sandwich. Particularly when washed down with a Lake Superior Kayak Kölsch. The only catch: You’ll have to go to Grand Marais to get it. Is the world’s best BLT worth the drive? You betcha.
