Got Forty Grand? Plus: Norton's Changes

How much do you believe in local meats? Lenny Russo tells me Heartland is looking for another investor to complete the wholesale local meat and sausage part of his new greatly expanded Heartland restaurant and market in downtown St. Paul, on the north edge of the farmer’s market. If you have the cash you can get a percentage of the business. If you don’t have forty grand, go and get a beer and a plate of wild boar ribs. I think they’re one of the best things I’ve ever eaten in my life. Really!

In other news: Greg Norton, living legend because of his work in rock band Husker Du, and more pertinently longtime chef of Norton’s, which has operated in and around Red Wing since 2003, is out at his restaurant Norton’s. New chef and owner: Sarah Norton. Reason? The dissolution of Greg and Sarah’s marriage. I’m always sad when a marriage ends, and wish everyone involved all the best.
