Elizabeth’s Pick: CityKid Cocoa

Elizabeth’s Pick: CityKid Cocoa

Although the leftover Christmas cookies disappeared weeks ago (thank GOD), I’m still enjoying one of the best locally made gifts I received: a bag of CityKid Double Dutch Hot Cocoa mix. In fact, I can hardly drink my morning coffee without slipping in a scoop of this chocolately confection. When it’s 3 degrees outside, these are the things that really matter. I’ve always been so impressed by Minneapolis-based CityKid Java, which nails the nonprofit equation perfectly: Source something everybody wants (deliciously roasted fair trade coffee), and give 100 percent of the profits to support inner-city youth education, athletic, and mentoring programs at Twin Cities nonprofit Urban Ventures. It’s a brilliant partnership, and a no-brainer to support. If you’re not a hot chocolate person, go for the Buzz Box, a four-bag bean sampler that also makes an excellent (and guilt-free) gift.

CityKid products are available online, and at these local retailers.
