Savvy Mom: Open Streets on Central!

Join the fun on Central Avenue this Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. when Open Streets comes to Northeast. An all-ages event, Open Streets began a few years ago when a length of Lyndale was closed for biking, running, walking, and any other way of moving that does not involve a motor.

Central Avenue N.E. will be closed from 18 1/2 to 26th Avenues. Local businesses are open for food and drink, plus there will be music, art, games, information, and giveaways.

Oh, and did I mention? It’s FREE.

Here are some of the highlights, from South to North:

1850 block: Showmobile live stage

1900 block: Ultimate Playgrounds and Play from Scratch kid activities

2000-2200 blocks: Bike polo, mini tennis, and third lair skateboard lessons

2300 block: Playworks and bicycle rodeo

2400 block: Sen Yai Sen Lek food table

2500 block: Recovery Bikes grand opening of new location; Holy Land Food; Food, art, and activities in the Eastside Food Co-op parking lot; Live music and food in the Central Avenue Liquors parking lot (Note: the liquor store is closed; it’s Sunday.)
