Best Ice Cream Flavor Mash-Ups

Best Ice Cream Flavor Mash-Ups

Izzy's understands the flavor mash-up concept better than any local ice cream shop, encouraging synergystic combinations via its trademark bonus "Izzy" mini-scoop and "Dizzy Izzy" five-scoop sampler.

Norwegian Chai? Great. Salted Caramel? Even better. But mix the two and you achieve a higher plane of ice cream ambrosia, as the wintry spices and salt-spiked caramel play off one another. Call it what you will—Salted Nor-chai-mel—it's my new favorite local ice cream mash-up.

Izzy's Flavor-Up tool inspires a dizzying array of possiblities: Cream Cheese/Cotton Candy? Peace Coffee/Coconut/Cake Batter?

Taking the concept one step farther, I've been brainstorming other open-source ice cream dessert hacks. How about a float made with Crema's Cantaloupe Lime sorbet and Joia's Blackberry Pomegranate & Ginger? Or Sebastian Joe's Oreo sandwiched between two Rustica bittersweet cookies, then dipped in melted B.T. McElrath Salty Dog chocolate?

Suggestions welcomed!

OMG! At Izzy's I love to get dark chocolate zin + vanilla bean + strawberry. It's a grown-up, craft version of the Neopolitan of my childhood that we scooped right from the good ol' cardboard carton-o-Kemp's.

I would also like Izzy's Cream Cheese ice cream scooped into a pint of Left Hand Milk Stout, please and thank you.

And since you mentioned Rustica, I'd like to crumble their incredibly gingery ginger snaps into a float made from Pumphouse Creamery vanilla and Reed's Ginger Brew.

I could go on...

Just like a server in a restaurant, the scoopers at Izzy's tend to be great about which flavors taste great together. I'm on the email notification list for when Snap Crackle Chocolate is up, and I like to pair it for over-the-top goodness with Midnight Snack. Pumpkin goes great with Graham Cracker, (duh), Cream Cheese goes great with Key Lime Pie, I love Lemon Custard with any of their berry flavors, I'm longing to try coconut and Mango Django together, but they're never both in the case when I visit.

as you can see, I've spent a little time thinking on this!

We are long-time Izzy's fans. Salted Caramel is a long-running favorite and I like to pair it with either the bold Dark Chocolate Zin or the more subtle Ricotta. Yum!

Sweet Science mentioned that Gastrotruck might be offering a float with their ice cream and Joia soda pop. I think it would be killer.
