Sweet Jules Pairs Caramel with...Beer?

Sweet Jules Pairs Caramel with...Beer?

Created by sisters Jule Vranian and Hope Klocker, Sweet Jules caramels are everything they should be: rich, buttery, and ideal for special occasions. The sisters have launches a tasty new collection of boozy caramels, plus two limited edition varieties, which they sent over for us to sample.

The Pub Crawl in a Box collection puts Minnesota craft beers to good use, combining them with sugar, butter, and cream to create dreamy treats—an ideal gift for a brew-lover. Using King Scotch Ale from Town Hall Brewery, the salty-sweet Scotch Ale & Pretzel candy offers a satisfying crunch often missing in chewy caramels. The Sweet & Furious flavor is a treat that combines Surly Brewing Company’s Furious beer with a little sweetness to temper its bitter, hoppy flavor. Indeed Brewery provided the American Black Ale for the Midnight & Spice caramel, which has just enough pepper to spice things up. Thanks to the Lift Bridge Brewing Company, the Chestnut Hill & Quinoa caramel presents a smoky, roasted malt ale flavor with the nutty texture of popped quinoa, giving a popcorn-like texture to the candy.

Two other new varieties round out Sweet Jules’ summer offerings. Subtle yet mouthwatering, the Passion Fruit flavor blends tart tropical notes with sweet, traditional caramel. The Raspberry and Chocolate features dark notes of cocoa and a sharp raspberry zing: After a quick impression of soft chocolate, the tart raspberry is a surprise to the tongue—a theme that carries through the collection.
