The Just Bento Cookbook Giveaway

The Just Bento Cookbook Giveaway

Our sustainable food correspondent, Marie Flanagan (a.k.a. Reetsyburger) is out sick today, so in the spirit of giveaways (we're awarding a Vera Bradley travel bag to two lucky readers over in our lifestyle blog, Scout), let's give away a cookbook that crossed Dara's desk this year:

Written by Makiko Itoh, a "bento blogger," The Just Bento Cookbook: Everyday Lunches To Go is just that—a recipe-filled book to help you pack a bento box (those cute, small containers traditionally holding Japanese eats—and shown here on the cover).

To enter to win, please recommend your favorite get-well tip or cold-buster in the comments section below. It doesn't relate to this book, but sure would help Marie!

Entries accepted until Monday, October 10th at 10 a.m. Winner pulled at random and notified through email.

If your having a cold or sinus issues, remember to take some multivitamins and wear a stocking cap to bed. I'm not a doctor, but I've seen one on TV!

Honey! Take a mug of hot water; add a healthy dose of honey and fresh lemon. Also, any meds you can scrounge up that were tucked away and forgotten about. Those are usually worth a little boost.

Bad cold/sinus congestion? Drink an ice cold beer. Kind of gets all the "fuzz" off your tongue, soothes the throat and the best part is a quote from my BFF: "There's a pork chop in every beer" ..if you're looking at protein :-)

THe best remedy for cold/sinus is linden blossom tea - old and well known Eastern European medicine. the blossoms are picked from linden trees in late July, and then dried. Once you have a cold, make a cup of linden tea with honey and drink it right before you go to bed. One of the linden qualities is that it makes you sweat. You may end up changing your night gown to a new dry one a few times during the night, but the key is to keep your blanket on and keep sweating. In the morning you will feel like a new person:).

Nothing beats a good spicy bowl of Pozole Rojo or even Pho when you are ill. That and some good old fashioned rest.

Simmer filtered water with 2 organic lemons, sliced. When hot, pour into your favorite mug and add a teaspoon of local honey. Grab a fun magazine and nestle under a comfy blanket. You will be healed!
