Nani Nalu

Let’s suppose for a second that swimwear shopping was enjoyable. There’d be a stylish selection, a soothing setting, and yes—suits that fit and flatter. Let’s say the experience actually made you want to buy something. And wear it. In public. Jennifer and Grant Cermak’s new store, Nani Nalu (Hawaiian for “beautiful wave”), offers just that: an inspired swimwear experience. The tiki-tropical spot hosts a stunning collection of designer swimwear and accessories. “I wanted to capture the feeling and product that’s available at beachside resorts,” says Jennifer, who has 15 years of swimwear design and retailing experience. Her taste translates into styles both classic and fashion-forward: Aaron Chang reversibles, flirty Betsey Johnson ensembles, versatile Vix cover-ups, and 1940s-inspired numbers from Shan (in clean mint green or of-the-moment navy). The Italian line Emamo, the Prada of swimwear, includes coordinating tunics and crocheted bandanas that take suits from sand to soiree. For men, Nani Nalu features Billabong board shorts and their abbreviated cousin, the trendy South Beach short. Kids will appreciate the assortment of candy-colored suits and flip-flops. All that’s left to catch is a wave.
