2010 Gala In The Gardens

The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum hosts 400 guests at its premier summer garden party.

EVENT: Gala in the Gardens, June 16

HOSTS: Belinda Jensen and community volunteers Blythe Brenden and Barbara Hamilton-Sustad

CAUSE: The Fund a Dream initiative, which is raising money for NatureScape play yards. They help preschoolers learn about plants and play in a natural landscape rather than a plastic jungle.

GOING ONCE, GOING TWICE: The mythical Arboretum Magic Soil: a cubic yard of Arboretum dirt, nurtured by a secret-recipe organic elixir for use in the winner’s own garden.

DÉCOR: More than 4,000 peonies were donated by Countryside Gardens. Four floral designers provided arrangements.

WINING AND DINING: Dinner included produce grown in the gardens. Wine came from Trinity Oaks, which plants a tree for every bottle sold.
