| Description |
Recreate, Re-create, Repeat, an exhibition of new paintings by Dani Roach, opens October 23 in the Groveland Annex. In this group of work, Roach continues to explore her fascination with the intersection between representational imagery and abstract space. Drawing upon her recreational experiences in nature – hiking, biking, and canoeing – Roach seeks to re-create the contemplative and restorative feelings offered by time spent among water and woods.
Roach has been represented by Groveland Gallery since 1984 and this exhibition marks her tenth solo show. Born and educated in Wisconsin, she has lived in Minneapolis for 27 years. Roach began her early career as a member of WARM Gallery between 1983 and 1988, and she has exhibited regionally at ARC Gallery in Chicago, the Benedicta Arts Center in St. Joseph, Minnesota and the University of Minnesota at Morris. Roach has been the recipient of artist’s residency fellowships at the Millay Colony for the Arts in Austerlitz, New York and Ragdale Foundation in Lake Forest, Illinois. Additionally, she was a 2000 recipient of a Jerome Foundation Travel and Study Grant.
The artist will be present at the opening reception on Friday, October 23 from 5-8 p.m. This show runs concurrently with an exhibition of new paintings by Rod Massey in the main gallery. These exhibitions continue through November 28.
