Bike Art Opening at PENN Cycle-Woodbury

Enjoy a wine and cheese reception for the opening of "Motivity" by photographer Rolf Hagberg at Penn Cycle & Fitness, Woodbury. Penn Cycle & Fitness stores in Bloomington and on Lake Street will also be selling "Motivity" bike art throughout the holiday season.

"Motivity" explores the motions of bicycles, including their rotation and structure, offering a new perspective into the art of wheel physics.
 
Each image captures a unique combination of the shapes, tones, and color transitions of moving spokes and wheels. These images are not created by multiple exposure or with post production layering techniques. The complex interaction of shutter speed, camera panning, strobe, and rotations of the hub and wheel all must align in the right instant for a "Motivity" image to result—abstract, yet identifiable.

"Motivity" images provide a glimpse into the elegance of wheel physics and reveals the hidden artistry of a mechanishm often seen as only a tool or means of transport. The photographs depict single, striking movements: a wheel's perfect rotation, the blending of color, light and motion in a fraction of a second.
