Changemakers come together to raise funds for the American Refugee Committee

Aiding Change

Event: The annual Changemaker’s Ball was held Saturday, December 8, 2012, at Aria in downtown Minneapolis.

Cause: More than $200,000 was raised for the American Refugee Committee. ARC is an international humanitarian organization that helps refugees access healthcare, shelter, water, and economic opportunities.

Going once, going twice: The evening included live and silent auctions. The main prize: a private-cooking lesson and custom-catered meal for six from Bravo chef Roble Ali.

Sing a song: Music was provided by a number of people, including Faarrow, a group of Somali musicians who have served as creative advisors for ARC’s “I Am a Star” campaign as well as ambassadors for the United Nations. They were the first Somali artists to sign with a major American record label.
