Event: The Changemaker’s Ball was held on Friday, November 15, 2013 at Aria in Minneapolis.

Cause: The American Refugee Committee’s annual gala raises funds to benefit the international nonprofit’s mission to provide opportunities and aid so that refugees and displaced individuals can rebuild their lives.

VIPs: Notable guests included former U.S. Ambassador to Morocco Samuel Kaplan and his wife, Sylvia; Robert Flaten, former U.S. Ambassador to Rwanda; and Congressman Keith Ellison, as well as several of Minnesota’s Somali community leaders.

Middle Eastern Munchies: Guests noshed on a Middle Eastern–inspired menu to honor the American Refugee Committee’s newest program in Syria and sampled a trio of Syrian-influenced desserts.
