Forget shoes, belts, and smiles–you’re never fully dressed without a pen. According to Barry Rubin, the owner of Minneapolis-based pen purveyor Ink, your rollerball, ballpoint, or fountain pen makes a statement about you. Over the years, Rubin has amassed a personal collection of limited editions that are now for sale at Ink. These museum-quality pens—from a hand-carved jade piece to a James Bond 007 set—are for displaying, not writing, but Ink also carries a selection of tools you can use. Pens are grouped by price point, ranging from $10 to a precious $75,000. Although shopping at Ink is by appointment only, don’t be intimidated: Rubin is the store’s only employee, and he just wants to make sure he’s available to share his expertise and enthusiasm. Located on the 45th floor of the IDS Center, Ink is an oasis of blonde-wood floors, white leather, and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the city. It’s as welcoming as Rubin, and as chic as the pens he sells. Go on—get one to match every outfit.
