Biggest Tiki Bar in the USA?

Psycho Suzi’s relocates

Biggest Tiki Bar in the USA?

Psycho Suzi’s, the campy and kitschy tiki bar in northeast Minneapolis, has relocated and quadrupled in size. Now they have a gift shop and a waterfall in the lobby to go with their fun drinks and better-than-average bar food. Although the local favorite doesn’t offer much more, I predict it’s going to continue to be a leading hot spot, with bachelorette party busses heading in from Wilmar, Winona, and everywhere in between. It could also work as a top birthday-party and prom-dinner destination for teens—if a few non-alcoholic tiki drinks were added to the menu. Mai tai interest your daughter in a virgin piña colada to go with her basket of cheese curds? You bet your baby-bathtub-sized decorative fork on the wall you can! 1900 Marshall St. NE, Mpls., 612-788-9069, psychosuzis.com

Psycho Suzi's is such a great place. I haven't been to their new location yet. I can't wait to check it out. The firey artichoke dip is excellent, and I loved the pizza with rum soaked raisins.

Okay, so I don't know anything about Tiki bars. I did notice the theme of the place, but it didn't do anything for me. That's not why I'm writing. It's the appetizers. I craves greasy goodness and Psycho Suzie's delivers like nobodies business. Their onion rings are so good, they should probably be classified as a controlled substance. And hellooooo cheese curds! Also, put trying their backfire dip on your bucket list, if people still still have bucket lists. Are they over now? I'm out of the loop on that one.

I suppose it would be unkind of me not to mention the pizza, which is good. The sauce has a nice kick to it. Blah, blah.

The patio is awesome. Yada yada yada. (Well it is, but I mean, hey, it's a patio.)

Okay, back to the apps. When in doubt, go with chicken wings. You can't go wrong with chicken wings, especially their wings. See you there!

I try to plug my favorite places whenever I get a chance. I stumble across this and had to add my two cents.

Suzi's Mai Tai drinks are the best!

Every place I go to, if they have one on the menu, I try the pork sandwich. I've had some truly great ones. Yes, I've been to Gatlin's BBQ in Texas. Not really a fair comparison, but Psycho Suzie is known for doing things their own way and I must say I am happy with the result. The sandwich feels like a full meal in hand. It was flavorful, spicy and sweet, just the way it should be. Don't listen to the haters, Suzie, do it your way.

When the wife and I go out, I vote for this place. We get a sitter and leave the kids at home. I appreciate the scale system for how strong their drinks are. I favor the Paralyzed Polynesian.

Sometimes, when I gotta have a burger, I know where I'll go. There's just something about a good bar burger and the Charger Burger is it. Beef, BBQ sauce, bacon, cheese...it's a heart attack on a plate. It is everything a burger should be. And it's got lettuce, so you can feel better about yourself when you're done.
