Style Minneapolis feels like an upscale curiosity shop one might run across on a Stockholm side street. Proprietress Shayne Barsness has a sixth sense for salvaging treasures from among the cluttered contents of thrift stores and repurposing them into furniture and home décor for her dainty shop. In her hands, a coffee table once deemed unfit for a frat house emerges safari chic with a vintage map decoupaged to its surface. Barsness, who has been featured on HGTV for her ability to turn trash into treasure, uses various painting techniques and glazes and employs local seamstresses
and upholsterers to create her repurposed products. Reflecting their origins, many of her offerings can be purchased for just-above-thrift-store prices. Summer plans for the store include tent sales and technique classes for do-it-yourselfers.
