We should probably rename it Minnesota Monthly’s Food, Wine, and Beer Experience. At this year’s 15th annual celebration, there were 27 varieties of beer represented. Hope you tried some of them, including Jacquie Berglund’s incredible local brew, Finnegans Irish Amber, which offers great taste along with the chance to do some good: 100 percent of profits fund a program that assists those in poverty. Finnegans Irish Amber is available at your favorite pub or liquor store. My suggestion: Try it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Andrea Pessis has added delicious cupcakes to her ever-popular candy stash at Groveland Confections, located in Gaviidae Common in downtown Minneapolis.

Given his penchant for talking about cheeky monkeys, the Late Late Show’s Craig Ferguson would probably enjoy one of the sandwiches, salads, soups, or desserts at the Cheeky Monkey Deli on Selby Avenue in St. Paul.

If you’re in downtown St. Paul, a must-stop for breakfast or lunch Monday through Saturday is the Q Kindness Café, located in the Lowry building. For 15 years, Jimmy and Lisa Metwaly have served up scratch food and compassion for café customers. Their pay-it-forward attitude was recently heralded by St. Paul mayor Chris Coleman, who declared the first week of every month Kindness Week.
