Event: Avant Garden 2013 was held Saturday, September 21, at the Walker Sculpture Garden in Minneapolis.
Reason: More than 900 guests turned out to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Walker Sculpture Garden. The event raised more than $420,000 for the Walker Art Center’s artistic and educational programming.
Star Power: The event was well-attended by Twin Cities notables, with guests including Minneapolis mayor R.T. Rybak, WCCO-TV’s Amelia Santaniello and Frank Vascellaro, and the Pop Art master behind “Spoonbridge and Cherry,” Claes Oldenburg.
A New View: The Sculpture Garden was transformed for the event, allowing guests to see it as they never had: with live music from the Slush Puppies, a dance floor, gourmet food from Modern Events by D’Amico, and, of course, plenty of art.
