Event: The Starkey Hearing Foundation’s annual So the World May Hear gala was held Sunday, July 28, at the Saint Paul RiverCentre.
The Cause: More than $8 million was raised to support the Starkey Foundation’s mission to fit hearing aids to those in need around the world and to provide more than one million hearing aids this decade.
Star Power: A number of famous faces attended the gala, including Sir Richard Branson, Ashton Kutcher, Barbara Bush, Jimmie Walker, Angel Chun Li Zhao, and Dennis and Leslie Hansen. Forest Whitaker, Kristi Yamaguchi, former President Bill Clinton, and Lionel Richie were also in attendance.
Going Once, Going Twice: The highest bid of the night went to a Yamaha WaveRunner, which sold for $14,000.
