Think about it: If you’re going to spend $50 on a haircut, shouldn’t it come with cucumber water, a concierge, and a shiatsu massage? It does at Spalon Montage in Edina. After 20 years, the salon-spa has gotten a major makeover. With 15,000 square feet full of chandeliers, ebony-wood floors, fieldstone walls, and orchids flown in fresh from Hawaii, it’s designed for indulgence—though it’s worth noting that Spalon’s services haven’t increased in price since the multimillion-dollar renovation. The sprawling new space includes high-tech pedicure stations with personalized lighting and sound systems; a labyrinth of treatment rooms for everything from advanced facials to Thai yoga massage; and opulent relaxation lounges complete with fireplaces. At the adjacent Elizabeth House, a historic, three-story building dedicated to Spalon’s stellar hair services, guests will soon be able to sip Chardonnay and nibble canapés during their up-dos. It’s all in a day-spa’s work.
