Celebrity Art Auction and Wine Garden

WHEN: Friday, August 7 Saturday, August 8 Sunday, August 9
Noon – 8:30 p.m. 10 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

WHERE: Suburban World Theatre • (Hennepin Avenue between West Lake Street and 31st Street)

Step into the air-conditioned ambience of Suburban World Theater during the Uptown Art Fair and check out the Celebrity Art Auction, featuring art by local Twin Cities TV and radio personalities, authors, professional athletes, and more. In the past, professional artists teamed up with local celebrities to create unique items. This year, Uptown Art Fair ceramicist Kevin Caufield created earthenware plates that will serve as the canvas for the local celebrities, giving them the opportunity to create fantastic art pieces.

Proceeds from the winning silent auction bids will benefit Northern Clay Center’s ClaytoGo program, subsidizing introductory clay classes, on-site classroom instruction, potter’s wheel demonstrations, and in-service training sessions in Minneapolis schools—complementing existing art classes with a new medium and art form that wouldn’t otherwise be available. Northern Clay Center, which is also hosting of the Family Imagination Station during the Uptown Art Fair, is located near the University of Minnesota campus in Minneapolis. Last year, Northern Clay’s school outreach program brought clay projects to over 3,000 youth in the Twin Cities area!

Venture farther into the Suburban World Theater to find the Wine Garden, offering a relaxing escape from warm August weather along with an exquisite sampling of Barefoot Wine products.

Blue Moon Community Mural Billboard

WHEN: Friday, August 7 Saturday, August 8 Sunday, August 9
5 p.m. – 8 p.m. 1 p.m. – 7 p.m. 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.

WHERE: Food court behind the Walker Library • (Hennepin Avenue and Lagoon Avenue)

We all love the wonder and excitement of creating things. Whether it’s creating artwork, building a new museum, or the discovery of a new beer, everyone takes pride and ownership in something they create—and they just can’t help but share it with the world.

During the Uptown Art Fair, Blue Moon Brewing Company invites the community to come together to create a mural. Art Fair visitors who are 21 and older can paint the mural with guidance from two professional muralists, while enjoying a sample of Blue Moon beer. It will be photographed, reproduced, and displayed in the community as a billboard for people to admire long after the Art Fair is over.

To Blue Moon Brewing Company, a billboard isn’t just an ad—it’s part of a community. They think of billboards just like pieces of public art because, after all, if one goes up in your neighborhood, you look at it every single day. That’s why they started their Community-Created Out-of-Home project. The Blue Moon team goes to beer, art, and wine festivals all around the country, and lets the community paint the billboards that eventually go up in their neighborhoods.
