Keys 4/4 Kids staff brings Paint A Piano program to Uptown WHEN:
Friday, August 6 Saturday, August 7 Sunday, August 8
Noon – 8 p.m. 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
WHERE:
East side of Hennepin Avenue between Lake Street and Lagoon Avenue
Looking for a way to create something memorable, while giving back to the community? Stop by the Keys 4/4 Kids booth on Hennepin Avenue and partake in a free, hands-on, mixed-media activity. Fairgoers of all ages are invited to paint their favorite urban experience onto a refurbished upright piano and discover the piano’s inner workings at the same time. Watch as Keys 4/4 Kids staff deconstruct a piano, piece by piece, and explain how it all fits together to create yet another form of art – music. Children can also participate in related coloring activities. Professional pianists will be on hand to inspire creativity.
Each year, the Uptown Art Fair Committee selects a fellow non-profit organization to shine the spotlight on. The goal is to support that organization, as well as support our community. Keys 4/4 Kids is a local non-profit whose mission is to “inspire young people to believe in themselves through the arts.” They accomplish this through programs such as Paint a Piano, which places pianos in low-income schools, churches, and community centers that could not otherwise afford to have them. Each piano painted at the 2010 Art Fair will be donated to an Uptown organization. You may further support Keys 4/4 Kids by making a cash donation at their booth, or making a silent auction bid on a music shelf painted by a local celebrity.
