This 7th annual fundraiser for the Bemidji Area Arts Endowment, hosted at the Bemidji Town & Country Club September 17, 2010, provided beer and wine tasting, a German meal, and live music.
Cause: Proceeds become part of the Bemidji Area Arts Endowment, a component of Northwest Minnesota Foundation. The BAAE funds various art groups and artists in the Greater Bemidji area.
Details: Octoberfest-styled beers and an assortment of wines were sampled, donated by McKinnon Distributing, Bernick’s Distributing, Noel’s Bottle Shop, and Phillips Distributing. The German meal was prepared by Chef Jeremy at the Bemidji Town & Country Club.
Northwest Minnesota Foundation recognized BAAE as the Community Philanthropy Group of the Year. A one thousand dollar award was made to the endowment, and NMF board president Eric Bergeson presented a commissioned sculpture by Al Belleveau to BAAE president Mike Tangen. The metal and stone sculpture has the word “Community” rooted as its base, then branches up into cuttings of various art disciplines with the word “art” on its crown.
Entertainment: Music was provided by Dennis Doeden and Tuba Jim Thompson.
