Chinese-Influenced Art on Chocolate Saturdays in Prospect Park

Last weekend began Gary Erickson’s three-weekend Holiday Pottery and Tile Sale in the Art & Architecture Building in Prospect Park. Erickson is an assistant professor of art at Macalaster College and is selling leaf imprint tiles in several sizes. The use of different oak, maple, elm, hosta, and gingko leaves has created amazing depth, texture, and colors throughout his work. In Erickson’s porcelain pieces, he has incorporated decaled imagery from his trips to Jiangxi Province, China.

Each week, Erickson will feature “Chocolate Saturday”—clearly he’s a guy who knows how to endear himself to hungry shoppers! He will be serving an assortment of chocolate treats, hot cider, and wine.

The sale will go on Dec. 11-13 and 18-20. Gallery hours are Fridays 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays 12 to 5 p.m. Enter the building through the Art & Architectural Antiques or Cupcake Café, and then head to the stairwell.
