I am seeing glass-orb stacked table lamps all over the place, and I’m really loving this look. It reads contemporary, but is decidedly old-fashioned, with similar designs going back nearly 90 years. Vaughan and Charles Edwards make sublime examples, but if their prices are a tad “fabulous” for your taste, Restoration Hardware sells a respectable edition.
FABULOUS (Bottom Right) “Glass Ball” lamp by Charles Edwards is hand-blown in the UK, a reproduction a 1920s English design. Here it is shown with the “Pinprick” shade in Cream, that adds a subtle diffusion of light. This is classic lighting done well—elegant and effervescent. $1,215, not including taxes and shipping from London. Order through Conlin Rudd Interior Design, 1614 Harmon Place, Suite 301, Minneapolis, 612-386-5925.
FABULOUS (Bottom Left) “Lausanne” from Vaughan is equally exquisite. Here it’s shown with a 17-inch “Carlisle” slubby parchment silk shade; $1,337 through Carol Belz & Associates.
FRUGAL (Above Right) The “Wilshire” has lead crystal spheres and nickel spacers. The parchment shade is trimmed with a grosgrain ribbon for a nice finish; $349 at Restoration Hardware, two MN locations.
