When asked for insider tips about this spectacular course, Mark Johnson, director of golf at Breezy Point, commented, “The landing areas are wide on most par fours and fives. The no. 7 and 15 are both par fives, and the no. 16 is a tight par four. You might want to consider something other than a driver. Keep the ball below the pin and you’ll have an opportunity to post a good score.”

WHITEWATER GOLF CLUB

Nestled between the soothing Kaministiquia River and the tranquil Rosslyn Oxbow Wetland, Whitewater Golf Club in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada has handcrafted a 27-hole championship layout that captures the incredible beauty of the majestic river valley.

The 550-acre Whitewater property is a dramatic collage of topographical features rarely found on one site. The river valley creates dramatic plateaus, steep cliffs, ravines, and magnificent wetlands, creeks and ponds. The dense boreal forest and its mountain range backdrop reveal signature trees that have been artfully introduced into the design.

Fall stay-and-play packages are available at nearby Valhalla Inn, Mink Mountain Resort, and Best Western Nor’wester Resort Hotel Days Inn.

WILDERNESS CLUB
Open for play in late 2007/early 2008, the Wilderness Club’s 18-hole, Nick Faldo championship designed par-72 golf course will be one of the top courses in America due to its unique topography, location, and playability.

“For architects, this place is a ten out of ten,” Nick Faldo says of his first Rocky Mountain Course, located in beautiful Eureka, Montana. “To be able to walk into a mature forest like this that’s set on top of a sand-based soil is pretty unique. This is an absolutely fabulous project to be involved with.”

Barry Cole, president of Wilderness Development, is equally excited about The Wilderness Club.
“The fact that we have a course in a beautiful wilderness area, surrounded by a 360-degree view of huge mountains, on sand-based soil is incredible. You don’t find that anywhere in the Rocky Mountains,” he says.

“Faldo was so impressed, he was comparing it to the links-land courses he’s played in Scotland, where golf originated. The soil base, along with the rugged topography, is really going to create a course unlike any other.”

Wilderness Club property includes 272 homesites and 47 luxury cabins spread out over 545 acres at an elevation of 2,500 feet. The centerpiece is the golf course, overlooking Wilderness Lake.
