According to The Wedding Guys,® the latest fashion craze is feminine romance and drama. On The Wedding Fair™ fashion show runway this season, you’ll be seeing a shift from the simple, but elegant A-line gown to gowns with fitted waistlines and voluminous fabrication. Detailing is reminiscent of the turn-of-the-century, with detailed bustles and corset bodices mixed with modified slim A-line, column or mermaid skirts utilizing intricately placed ruffles and lace. Along with this look also comes the pleated skirt or hemlines, draping and layered pick-ups. Rouching and pleated bodices are still in style as we begin to see the side wrap by itself start to fade. Embellishment is prominent again with beautifully detailed patterns and more crystal beadwork. Box pleated, low waist skirts are back to assist in a slimming look.

Angelique’s Bridal Salon and The Wedding Shoppe will present the latest styles on the main fashion show runway March 18. These gowns will be the hottest styles for Fall 2007—just in from the major designers. You’ll see that the off-the-shoulder bodice is creating a fashionable alternative to the strapless gown. The Bolero jacket is becoming a favorite of brides no matter what style of strapless gown, along with a new, sophisticated look called “fit and flare,” which is a modern version of the mermaid dress.
Fabrics are changing, too. Today you can see the resurgence of many styles and fabrics from the 1890s to the 1980s. Yes, the 1980s are making a comeback in the wedding arena—but perhaps with a little less fabric. As much as taffeta wrinkles, it’s going to be the standout fabric of 2007-08. Not in puffy-sleeved volumes like we saw on brides in the 80s and 90s, but in a more sophisticated look where the prominence is placed on the quality and artistry of the fabric. Fabric roses and feathers are “in,” while split-front gowns are on their way “out.” Color is very hot in Europe right now, and The Wedding Guys are starting to see a few brides embracing this as part of their selection.

Formal attire has also changed, according to The Wedding Guys. This season on The Wedding Fair runway you will see dramatic new styling. Knight’s Formal Wear, Men’s Wearhouse, and Savvi Formalwear will present the evolution of ties, color palette, and contemporary shirt options. Stripes are hot and you will be seeing them everywhere; in subtle pinstriping in tuxedos, as bold patterns on ties and accessories, and even interpreted in high-style shirts; many with tone-on-tone black stripes offering a swank masculine look. And, for the boldest use of stripes, consider a white tuxedo with black pinstriping.
Coordinated ties are the latest craze for grooms, offering a look that resembles ready-to-wear options. This fashion-forward effect offers a varied dimension that matching accessories do not. Many of these exciting new options include dots and bold patterns combined with vests in more subdued coordinating colors. Bold tropical and ocean colors are also dominant this season—corals and mandarins, kiwi and lime, capri mint, and turquoise.
The most exciting of all of the new releases, however, are tuxedos in chocolate. This rich look offers a stunning combination for the ever-increasing number of ivory and café colored bridal gowns.
