Raising awareness and funds to prevent fetal alcohol syndrome

Event: The 10th annual benefit for the Minnesota Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome was held Sunday, February 17, at Solera in downtown Minneapolis.

Cause: The event raised nearly $40,000 for training, education, and prevention efforts for fetal alcohol spectrum disorders. MOFAS helps provide women who are chemically dependent with childcare and transportation, so they can participate in support groups and training.

Who’s Who: U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar, State Senators Terri Bono and Melisa Franzen, retired Chief Justice Kathleen Blatz, and Wheelock Whitney were among the 325 guests in attendance.

Honorary Attendee: Former Governor Arne Carlson was honored for his significant impact on making funding for fetal alcohol spectrum disorders a priority in legislature.
