FlatPak Comes Home

I took a walk through the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden garden.walkerart.org this week, mostly because I love it, but also to commemorate its 20th birthday. The 11-acre urban garden across from the Walker Art Center has attracted 6.5 million visitors since 1988. Now when you stroll through to see that still-balanced cherry or to tip your hat at George Segal’s man in the trench coat, you can also visit a FlatPak house www.flatpakhouse.com. Once part of a traveling exhibition of contemporary prefab houses, this FlatPak is now retired to the Walker’s permanent collection and lives in this enviable green space. It will be used for educational programs and other special events. In the meantime, stop by and take a look.
