Friday Find: Decorate Your Pumpkin

I’m a fall fan, and pumpkin fan, and even remember my mom roasting pumpkin seeds so well that I brought them to school as a tasty snack. But now that I have my own home and less-talented cooking hands, the results are less impressive. (Not to mention, messy.)

So when I was pinning articles and inspiration from our latest Kitchen & Bath issue on Midwest Home‘s Pinterest page, I couldn’t help but notice a theme: Pumpkins all dressed up in glitter, paint, and more, that didn’t involve carving. So that’s today’s Friday Find, great for your tabletop, doorstep, or anywhere you want a festive hello. Search “decorate pumpkins” and you’ll get all sorts of options:

Glitter. Paint. Objects pinned. And you really don’t have to be the craftiest of individuals to make it work. Even I can handle some spray paint (for lovely metallic hues that are still in, everywhere). Or spray adhesive with glitter on the very top of smaller pumpkins to make them pop. Those with a more deft, artistic hand can try applying black puff paint straight onto the pumpkin in dynamic designs. The contrast is nice, multi-dimensional, and fits the classic black and orange theme you see this time of year.

Whichever route you go, just remember that there’s a lot more to consider than knives, carving, and pumpkin guts. Happy fall—and early Halloween!
