The 2011 Children’s HeartLink Gala seeks to end heart disease, one child at a time

Event: The 2011 HeartLink Gala, held Friday, September 16, at the downtown Minneapolis Hilton Hotel.

Cause: More than 650 guests came to support Children’s HeartLink, a medical nonprofit that builds sustainable programs in developing countries to prevent and treat heart disease in children.

Going Once, Going Twice: Auction items up for grabs included tickets to Super Bowl XLIV and a trip to Germany to race a Porsche on the Nurburgring, which garnered the highest bid of $14,000. In total, a record $765,000 was raised.

Who’s Who: WCCO-TV sports anchor Mark Rosen emceed the night. Senator Amy Klobuchar also attended.

Heart to Heart: Doctors Ulisses Croti and Lilian Beani from Children’s HeartLink’s partner site in Brazil were the night’s guests of honor.
