Going Green

The green tie affair supports conservation efforts in and around Minnesota

Event: The Nature Conservancy’s Green Tie Affair was held Thursday, April 25, at the Nicollet Island Pavilion in Minneapolis.

Cause: More than $100,000 was raised to support The Nature Conservancy’s work in protecting lands and waters in Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota. In keeping with the “My Place in Nature” theme, guests were encouraged to share their favorite places in nature.

Who’s Who: Many notable guests attended, including St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman, Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak, University of Minnesota President Eric Kaler, photographer and guest speaker Jim Brandenburg, and Cathy Wurzer, host of MPR’s Morning Edition, co-host of TPT’s Almanac, and the event’s host.

Going Once, Going Twice: The highest bid of the night went to a Caribbean yacht trip. It sold for $20,000.
