Elephant accent table by Vellum
A pop of eccentric, a dash of whimsy, a touch of wild—the best interior designs have at least one, and sometimes all three! These punchy pachyderm accent tables have a lot to offer, design-wise, and I can see a pair of them working in lots of different types of rooms and configurations—bookending a low-slung sofa, holding fort next to a colorful, poolside lounger, or slyly placed in a reading nook with a stack of books. Notice that they all have their trunks raised—a traditional Chinese symbol of good fortune and luck. I have expensive taste, so my fave is the made-in-Italy Vellum table, a lovely glazed ceramic specimen, with a $745 pricetag. (by order through Heinrich + Schultz), but Two’s Company also makes a nice one ($225, through Rosie Posie), as does Zodax ($235, through Interior Motives, a new shop in Stillwater at 116 Main St. S., Stillwater, 651-430-1357).
