Relationship Expert, Celebrity Matchmakerand Life Designer to the Stars
INTERVIEW BY SARAH MANS
I was born and raised in:
I was raised primarily by my grandparents between their home on Lake Minnetonka and our cabin up north. However, I spent many interesting and informative years traveling across the country with my mother while on her quest for spirituality.
I currently live in: Minnetonka, Minn.
Age: 39
Five things I love about the Twin Cities:
1. I love the people!
2. I love the beauty of nature that meets art and sophistication almost everywhere you look (the lakes, Walker Art Center, sculpture gardens, our nearby cities that we adore, like Stillwater).
3. I love the blend of ethnicity and culture.
4. I love the strong family value system.
5. I love those hot dishes that we Minnesotan’s are known for; they make life so simple sometimes.
How did you get your start in the matchmaking business? I started my first business in the early ’90s as a self-image consultant, helping people find their own true beauty. Because I obviously got to know my clients quite well, for fun I introduced what would soon become my first couple to be married. They were the first of hundreds who adamantly stated that I had just introduced them to their “soul mate.” I am now focusing on what I have found to be my greatest passion and gift: teaching both singles and married couples how to have, as well as the necessity of having, a healthy relationship with themselves first before they can actually have one with someone else. I am called upon as a relationship expert, a specialist on singles and soul mates, and am a life and love architect for anyone in search of a better way to experience love.
Describe a perfect date in the Twin Cities: You can rarely go wrong with dinner on the terrace at Basil’s in the IDS Center. For a romantic environment and some great jazz: dinner and dancing at Sophia’s. For a little more glitz with a different level of sophistication: a martini or glass of wine at Cosmos, with a lovely dinner following.
What have you learned about Minnesotans by being in the matchmaking business? Family and Midwestern values continue to hold so strong, and the desire for truly experiencing the arts and nature is of utmost importance, from the dating experience to raising their children.
