Dear Expert: I’ve wanted a new kitchen for a long time, how do I get started?
A: To help streamline the process, the first thing I would suggest you do is fill out a kitchen planning questionnaire (you can find this on our website crystalkitchen.com). This will help you think about what is important in your new space and help you identify your wish list. Start collecting photos from magazines so that you have examples of what you like. Take measurements of your space (or, if building, get the floor plan from an architect or builder). Start thinking about your budget (to get an idea of kitchen remodeling costs, visit our website under “budget estimators”). Staying within budget is as important for you as it is for designers. Next, start visiting kitchen showrooms, look at their displays and the quality of not only the work—but also the products. Ask questions. Ask to see a portfolio and references. A kitchen remodel will be well worth your time, effort, and investment, both in terms of value and for the happiness it will bring you and your family.
