Ladies Play

Another year, another baseball and golf season that transition straight to football, hunting, and now basketball, hockey (finally), and ice fishing. So many ways for sporty men to be away, so here’s a weekend outlook for women who like to shop, craft, or simply peruse with their free time:

Gingerbread Shows Presents: Winter Craft Show & Sale
Miller Hall Mall, Miller Trunk Hwy., Duluth, Minn.
Friday 10 a.m.-9 p.m. | Saturday 10 a.m.-7 p.m. | Sunday 11 a.m.-6 p.m.

Head to the north side of town for this weekend fete: Based out of Stillwater, this touring show travels the state (hitting up metro malls) 50 times a year, featuring Minnesota artists and crafters making all sorts of wares. Find handmade jewelry, silk flowers, custom art, woodworking, and more—and you’ll be at the mall for any other errands, too. Miller Hall is the Northland region’s largest mall, achored by JCPenney, Sears, Younkers, Barnes & Noble, and Old Navy. Learn more about the artists online.

Minnesota Estate Sales
Ongoing, multiple locations; varying hours

If you enjoy the hunt, while seeing how others live, visit for an ongoing feed of local estate sales. Whether Bloomington, Eagan or Minnetonka, you can usually do some advance research to learn what’s going to be there, and maybe take a peek at that antique oak furniture to see if it’s your style. (Note: listings often appear in more than one city; confirm location details before traveling.)

Quick Alerts: Linders still has Christmas products 75% off if you want to stock up post-season; so does Bachman’s, in addition to 40% off women’s apparel, accessries and jewlery (through Jan. 22, while supplies last); save $150 for every $500 you spend at Becker Furniture World; Saturday, check out area rugs at Gabbert’s in Galleria; Creative Lighting’s Winter Clearance Sale (up to 60% off) ends Jan. 26.

Happy shopping! And happy weekend. If you know of more sales, feel free to share below.
