Ladyslipper Boutique

4940 France Ave. S., Edina, 952-224-1900

The most glamorous addition to 50th and France is one of its tiniest. For years, Sacha Martin and Allison Mowery, the trendsetters behind Bluebird Boutique, had been eyeing the former Spirit Kids space. When it became available last spring, the duo teamed up with friend and fellow fashionista Amanda Rose to open Ladyslipper. The jewel-box setting perfectly suits the accessories inside: dainty ballet flats and traffic-stopping boots; glossy patent leather clutches and slouchy oversized totes; vintage pearls and metal-studded bracelets. Everything is artfully arranged on built-in shelves, illuminated by gilded chandeliers and mirrored glass. A zebra-striped rug sprawls out beneath plush, rose-colored chaise lounges (nabbed from a favorite Chicago boutique before it closed), giving the shop a decadent, dressing-room feel. But for all of its luxuriousness, Ladyslipper doesn’t put on airs. Its down-to-earth proprietresses know what Minnesota women want: a range of price points (and plenty of finds under $100), distinctive merchandise (with the exception of shoes, the store carries only one of everything), friendly service—and dance music. It’s a place where Posh would shop, but where you’ll feel right at home.
