Legend of the Stage

Only one actor in town can claim a theater with her name on it. A behind-the-scenes look at Wendy Lehr’s life on stage.

Wendy Lehr was giving out awards to her colleagues this fall at this year’s Ivey Awards, the Twin Cities’ Oscars of the stage. Then her own name was called. She was receiving the lifetime achievement award.

Over the past 40 years, Lehr has become one of the most beloved figures on the Twin Cities stage. She began as one of the founders of the Children’s Theatre Company and in December she’ll return to her roots, starring with her old CTC comrade Bain Boehlke in a series of children’s shows at the Jungle Theater.

Here, you can watch the full-length version (in three parts) of a documentary on Lehr that was excerpted for the This is Your Life-style bio of Lehr that was shown at the Iveys.
