We’re excited to bring you a new regular feature here on Home Dish: Local Store Spotlights! Check back weekly for more of our favorite local shops, and if you’ve got a suggestion, let us know!
If you’ve been lamenting the lack of bold colors and great Scandinavian design in your life, you’re in luck: Minneapolis is home to FinnStyle, the only purveyor of Finnish-designed goods in the U.S. The storefront is a hop, skip, and a jump from the Lyndale Farmer’s Market, so you can score your marigolds and your Marimekko in one fell swoop. FinnStyle originally opened in 2003 on Washington Avenue, where it resided for several years before moving to Gaviidae. The store has been at its current location on Glenwood since last year, and the cheerfully bright store is flourishing as it continues to expand the availability of products on the website, FinnStyle.com. In addition to carrying perhaps the most comprehensive collection of iittala and Marimekko products this side of the pond, the store stocks unique, colorful accent pieces from a variety of Finnish names. FinnStyle’s M.O. is modern, bright, and fun, and it’s hit the mark spot-on. Our favorite part? The collection of over 250 Marimekko fabrics. We might need to do some reupholstering this summer…
