I know exactly where I’d add a fireplace in my house: the eastern wall of my bedroom. No matter how many times I’ve wished for a fireplace, however, the wall is still blank. Lynda and Steve Meland from Plymouth have had better luck.
The happy couple is feeling the heat after winning the 2009 Fireside Hearth and Home Fireplace Facelift Contest. The annual contest awards a Minnesota homeowner either a fireplace where one didn’t exist before or an upgrade to an existing fireplace. This year, the Melands won a new fireplace for their drafty living room, and the Maple Grove Fireside Hearth & Home designed and installed it. To complete their room makeover, they chose new furniture from the collection at the Minnetonka location. The total cost for the furniture and fireplace was just about $8,000 and was all covered by Fireside Hearth and Home. The cottage-style decor looks comfy, and I just love the charming white fireplace complemented by the furniture and accessories. It gives the room just the focal point—and the cozy warmth—it needed.
