Luxurious House for Sale

In this rotten economy, its hard to imagine what it was like just a few years ago when money was flying around the housing market like confetti. But a new listing just popped up to remind us: this 10,263 square foot “château” designed and built by Smuckler Architects, in the tony Indian Hills neighborhood of Edina. Built in 2004 for Ray Zehr, the Pohlad Companies executive, and his wife, this five-bedroom Italian stone residence has a tiled outdoor lap pool with a separate hot tub, eight fireplaces, extensive bluestone terraces, a working elevator, three laundry rooms, two saunas, a Bellagio-sized steam room, a koi pond, his-and-her libraries, a yoga/pilates room in the owners’ suite, and nine bathrooms, including one with gold-leaf sinks. When it was built, the house was priced at $4.9 million, but the Zehrs are offering a wee discount: $4.849 million.
